About Kim - The settler slayer

Kim McCargo

From Survival Mode to Self-Leadership

For years, Dr. Kim McCargo measured her worth by what she produced. Achieving, building, performing her way into value; and she was good at it. Married with the big house, beautiful children, the career, a leader in her church and community. The American dream, fully executed. But beneath it all was this quiet agreement with settling. Not the kind most people picture. She was high-performing and faith-filled, but she had been trading her values, her boundaries, and her peace for so long that the trade felt normal. She was shrinking in rooms she was built to lead.

Her message was not built from theory alone. It was forged through experience, leadership, faith, and the courageous decision to confront misalignment personally before teaching others how to do the same.

The Divorce That Told the Truth

In 2021, she filed for divorce after almost 20 years of marriage. Her – the one who tells her kids to finish what they start, who follows the rules, who stays loyal even when it costs her. In the wreckage of that season, she looked in the mirror and found something she’d never actually had. “My real voice. Not the one I’d performed for decades to keep the peace and stay palatable enough to be loved.” It had been suffocating under years of achievement and accommodation. Once she heard it, she couldn’t unhear what it told her.

What She Learned

Freedom doesn’t come from performing, perfecting, or settling for less. It comes from knowing — and being — who you actually are. And when she started paying attention to the accomplished, educated, faith-filled women around her, she saw the same trade playing out in them too.
